Class Descriptions

Exploring Dance (pink and grey) is our youngest level of dance and is designed for students 3-6 years of age.  Students at this level will be introduced to ballet, tap, and creative movement in a 45-minute class while also learning dance and theater terminology, body alignment, class focus and discipline, and presentation.  Students ready to graduate into Level I will be given an opportunity to test with his/her teacher.

Level I (purple) is for students entering kindergarten (with a minimum of two years of Exploring Dance) through 3rd grade.  Our Level I syllabus continues enforcing the skills learned in Exploring Dance while strengthening and developing a child’s gross motor skills.  Students ready to graduate into the Level II program prior to entering the 4th grade will be recommended by his/her teacher.

Level II (blue) is our elementary/middle school program for students in the 4th grade-and older.  Students will be required to master placement, technique, terminology, center work, and performance skills prior to graduation into Level III.  Students in Level II are encouraged to take a minimum of two days per week.  Promotion will be based on teacher recommendation.
     Level IIA: Elementary-middle school students
Level IIB: Middle school (with teacher recommendation) through high school.

Level III (green) is the first level of our pre-professional program and only students who have completed Level II or have tested into the Level III curriculum will be allowed to participate.  Students in the Level III program are encouraged to dance at least two days per week.  Students entering Level III will have the opportunity to begin pointe classes (with their teacher’s recommendation) and must take a minimum of three ballet classes per week.

Level IV (green) is for the intermediate student only. Classes are designed for the serious pre-professional student with a minimum of four years of dance.  Students in Level IV are invited to join Attitudes Ballet Theatre and are given an opportunity to audition for all principal roles in our annual productions if they are enrolled in a minimum of three Ballet classes per week. Students in all other mediums are encouraged to dance a minimum of two days per week.

Level V (burgundy) is our professional division for students entering the 12th grade with a minimum of six years of training and dance at least three days per week.  Students in this division will be invited to audition for Kaleidoscope, our resident professional company.

Adult Division is designed for dancers college and older, beginners through professionals.  Our adults are encouraged to take any of the classes they choose from our schedule; however, we also have specific classes with the adult dancer in mind.  There is not a uniform for our adult dancers, unless they are performing with one of our companies, Attitudes Ballet Theatre or Kaleidoscope.
